This is a call to action. Not a marketing buzzword, but a true call out to anyone who will listen.
Our industry is built upon enabling others to excel. We build canvases for digital artists to express their creativity. We provide lumens to steal attention to allow a statement or ad to reach its audience. We build tools to allow collaboration without the boundary of distance. We enable the feelings, the impact, the experience. We connect the art to the audience, the lecture to the students, the messaging to the team. We are connectors.
But there is work that needs to be done on our own team. Right now people have been displaced from their work. In the freelance/gig culture that is dominant in Rental & Staging/#LiveEvents there are great techs that currently are left with cancelled shows and uncertainty. These are skilled men and women who are willing and able to work, but the work has left them.
Do you have work available? Maybe something out of town or state/province that needs boots on the ground? That work might normally require travel which is currently somewhere between questionable and frowned upon. Let's be connectors for our own people. Let's get them into freelance roles.
